Welcome to the World of Tomorrow!

August 22nd, 2008 by Simmons

A recent CNN article brings back good news from the students at MIT that managed to transmit enough energy to power a 60 watt light bulb last year. Intel is now getting behind the project and had managed to transmit 60 watts at 75% efficiency. CNN also reports that the original students have improved there previous system to transmit as much as 90% power as far as three feet.
Where I would love to see this idea utilized is in electric cars. Embed this system into your driveway or garage floor, drive over a sensor and it recharges your car for you automatically. What better way to tie in two budding technologies. Place the recharging equipment in the rear of the car away from the electronics, in case it messes with the computer system, and you have a viable and sellable system that is near ready to roll out.
I just can not wait.

ROFLCon Signed OLPC on eBay

May 16th, 2008 by George Burnett

“The eBay auction expires on May 23rd and 100% of the sale price will go to OLPC. This couldn’t have been done without the help of the fantastic hosts of ROFLCon, a collection of great Internet meme-creators who were happy to smear some Sharpie for this project, and of course, breadpig’s friends at OLPC. Thanks to all of you and happy bidding!”
