Universal iPod Remote Hack

December 26th, 2005 by George Burnett

O’reilly has posted an excerp from their iPod and iTunes Hacks bookon their digital media blog. This is a great how-to for people that are trying to consolidate their remotes into a single device, the iPod!

This article even tells you how to upload the controller sounds and so that you can get the same effect while using the iPod for you channel changer, xbox, DVD player controllers. This is some pretty cool stuff. I had the chance to take a look at this book before and if you liked this hack you should really get a copy of this book as it is really filled with a lot of great hacks.

You could also take a look at this book on O’reilly’s Safari Bookshelf project, which allows you to read and fully search all of their published books as well as some of their subsidiary publications.

Seems to me that this hack isn’t the most useful of hacks but may be one of the coolest iPod related hacks out there… except for the iPod Linux project of course.
