LayerOne, a computer security and technology conference held in the Los Angeles area is presenting it’s 3rd year on April 15th (yes tax day!) & 16th 2006 at the Pasadena Hilton. The purpose of LayerOne is to bring together just about anyone who is concerned with computer, information, and Internet security and the issues arising from it. Whether your a developer, system administrator, lawyer, IT manager, student, hacker, engineer, privacy advocates, hardware hacker, open source fan, or a garden variety geek you will find something of interest at LayerOne.
Previous speakers have included the likes of Dan Kaminsky of Doxpara Research, David Hulton (h1kari) of Toorcon, Danny O’Brien of NTK, and Bruce Potter of Shmoo Group.
LayerOne has already begun accepting papers and presentations for consideration for 2006 and have selected the first batch of speakers. Local to the area the LA2600 regular Datagram will be giving an “Introduction to Lock Picking” which will no doubt be very cool. Strom Carlson, whom has spoken recently at Defcon 13 on the subject of Asterisk and VOIP will be giving a talk about “Hacking The Siemens SLE4442 Smartcard“. Ken Caruso from the Seattle based SeattleWireless.net project will be giving a talk on, well just that as well as some of the most significant happenings in the community wireless movement. All the way from Germany Enno Rey will be giving his talk on MPLS + VPLS security.
All in all this conference sounds like it will be a huge success and yet we have only heard about a few of the talks that will be given so far. Keep an ear out for more information with regards to this con and keep an eye on their website LayerOne.info.
