In what seems to be a possible attempt to eventually replace the iPod Shuffle, Apple has released the 1GB iPod nano today priced at $149 in both white and black. This in turn has brought the price of the iPod Shuffle down to $69 for the 512 MB & $99 for the 1 GB versions.

It seems that the Australian Apple store jumped the gun and uploaded the specifications sheet early, giving the US store a sneak peak last night.
