Pownce has opened their up their messenger-like service to the public this week. Similar to Twitter, Pownce allows you to send micro-blog style messages to your friends, but that is just the start. Pownce is more widely used for sending files to your friend over the internet. Files such as music, photos, messages, links, events, and more. You can do it all on their web site, or install their lightweight desktop software that lets you run Pownce from your desktop without having to open a web browser.
