Years after the Internet Corportation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) began their push for IPv6 adoption they finally took the first steps to allowing that to actually happen yesterday. The root DNS zone was updated with IPv6 addresses for six of the thirteen servers. This change effectively allows other systems on the Internet to connect to other IPv6 systems without the need to do a DNS lookup over IPv4.
