The US Military blotted their newest, least operational spy satellite from the heavens this week. Regardless of WHY they did it (and it seems like everyone has an opinion on this one), or the fact that the Chinese already pulled off this same trick just over a year ago, you have to admit the idea of one object striking another at a speed of 22,000 MPH while orbiting 130 miles above the Earth is still impressive, if even just for the fireworks. While geeks and nerds like us would have lined up to watch this on Pay-Per-View, the military was kind enough to release footage of the impact to the general public, and at least one major news source has compared the footage to demise of the Death Star.
