Demonoid Returns With A Vengeance

April 12th, 2008 by George Burnett

Demonoid ReturnsDemonoid ReturnsDemonoid, the wildly popular torrent tracker is back in the p2p tracking game after a long hiatus. The previous admin @ Demonoid could no longer manage the site going forward and has handed his responsibilities to a close friend.

“Since a few months ago, Deimos, the site administrator, lacks the necessary time to take care of the website, because of personal matters he’s been needing to attend to. For this reason, he has decided to leave the site staff.

Before leaving, he assigned a new site administrator from among his friends to take care of the site. The old moderator team will continue helping with the site, unchanged. We will try to keep running everything just as it always has been.

The trackers and website seem to be working properly, and should any issues arise, they will be taken care of as soon as possible. The site might be going on and offline over the next days as we work out any problems.

Welcome back, and enjoy your stay!

- Umlauf
Demonoid Site admin”

All though I have found the Demonoid tracker to be a great service in the past I find my self extremely cautious due to the previous CRIA scare and the recent downtime. More information with regards to the CRIA issue and why Canadian can no longer use the Demonoid tracker take a look here.

Who knows what the new admins may be up to… If you have any feeling in this regard please leave them in the comments below.

Stream Your iTunes Library to an iPhone or iPod Touch

April 9th, 2008 by George Burnett

A free-ware application called Simplify Media streams music from any shared iTunes library over the internet, effectively giving your limited-space iPhone or iPod touch access to your entire music library—no matter what the size.

To use it, you’ll need to install Simplify Media on your Windows or Mac desktop. Then, using a jailbroken iPhone, install the Simplify Media app for the iPhone from Installer.app. You’re limited to using Simplify Media to a Wi-Fi connection, and it’s a bit buggy in the beta version, but as you can see from the video, it’s got tons of potential.

Below is a video of this application doing what it does best: Read more »

FCC Approves Emergency Alert Text-Messaging System

April 9th, 2008 by George Burnett

A program to create a nationwide alert system using cell phones and other mobile devices was approved Thursday by the Federal Communications Commission.

The system would send text messages to Americans when an emergency occurs.

The FCC said cell phone companies that voluntarily opt into the system would send text-based alert messages to subscribers in response to three types of events:

* A disaster that could jeopardize the health and safety of Americans, such as a terrorist attack; these would trigger a national alert from the president of the United States

* Imminent or ongoing threats such as hurricanes, tornadoes or earthquakes

* Child abductions or Amber alerts.

T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint Nextel and AT&T all stated that they would be likely to opt into the alert system if it is passed by the FCC.

April 9th, 2008 by George Burnett

Watching live or recorded TV feeds using a desktop computer is made possible using television software. Most TV software applications nowadays are integrated into media center programs with playback support for almost all kinds of media contents such as audio, video, image files and even RSS feeds.
